ceasefire .
Displaced Palestinians across the Gaza Strip took
advantage of a brief ceasefire on Friday to inspect
their homes . But the lull in fighting was short - lived
- within two hours, the truce collapsed with Israel
and Hamas blaming each other for violating the
agreement .
Thousands of buildings have been damaged since
Israel began bombardment of the besieged territory
on July 8. Mosques , hospitals , residential buildings
and schools have been targeted.
